helly r. (lester) — severance
Player pronouns: they/them
Contact(s):
Time Zone: GMT/GMT+1
Tagging habits/tagging speed: i'm a fairly sporadic tagger and i don't really have a set schedule. i'm definitely a little on the slow side but i'm really desperate to get back into RP in a big way right now so i hope to be able to boomerang!
Favorite types of characters to write against: OOH. i love characters who are Funny bc i love to engage in a bit of banter and silliness, and also characters who are a little off kilter and weird and don't really try to fit in.
Character Name: Helly R. / Helly Lester for the sake of the game
Character Age: 30
Canon: Severance
Canonpoint: Post-S1 finale (if you know you know)
1 paragraph summary of character/canon: Helly, an employee at Lumon Industries, works in the Macrodata Refinement department, where a surgical procedure called 'severance' has separated her memories between work and personal life. Her access to memories is limited by physical location, preventing her from recalling outside experiences on Lumon's basement floor, or retaining work memories outside the basement. Helly feels effectively trapped at work, wanting to quit but unable to do so due to her outie, the version of her who opted for the procedure and lives a life outside Lumon's walls. Helly hates working at Lumon, and will do literally anything she can to get out – but if her 'outie' quits, the version of Helly that has only known Lumon will cease to exist. This matters little to Helly, who is determined to get out at absolutely any cost.
“Family” members: ~Married~ to Arthur Lester (
Possible non-event hooks: Helly is going to be kicking up a fuss from the beginning because she thinks this whole place is just a Lumon simulation to punish her for [mumblemumble season one finale reasons that I don't want to share in case anyone hasn't seen the show bc you should watch the show]. She will definitely also want to get to know as many people as possible and figure out who she can form some alliances with, so she might be knocking on people's doors trying to scope everyone out.
What are they up to in Sweetwater? Being A Huge Nuisance, absolutely. Someone should probably tell her to kick it down a notch before she gets herself in serious trouble.
Most Desired CR: FRIENDS, please give her some friends, all she really has is colleagues that she accidentally forged unbreakable bonds with but she would really like to have some friends whose houses she can just crash for the sake of it. People to introduce her to things she's never really experienced before – for example, her food palate is VERY limited because of the limitations put on her at work, so there's a lot of food she simply hasn't tried before. I also want her to meet people who are equally suspicious of this place (I assume that's everyone, but Helly will be particularly feral about it, so anyone who can match her intensity would be great). I'm also very open to negative CR if things go that way – I love playing out arguments tbh. I don't mind if 'disliking each other' is the endpoint for our characters as long as it's fun for both of us to play as writers, but I'm happy to work towards something more amicable if they got off to a bad start but you'd prefer them to be friends at some point!
Undesired CR: nada!
Any threads you really want to play out? I would looooove for her to get to know everyone in the game through knocking on doors – it's rare to be in a game with this few characters, so I think it's totally feasible for her to have at least a little conversation with everyone.

Maureen's going to be Intense about the situation in what I suspect is just slightly different enough from Helly's own to be interesting/complimentary. Would love to throw them at one another and see how much trouble they can get up to.

Tagging habits/tagging speed: I do a tag sweep usually once every weekday evening, and more frequently during the weekend. I like to focus on quality over quantity!
Favorite types of characters to write against: Any and all! I love writing with characters that clash against mine and offer opportunities to push both characters' development, as well as finding unlikely friends/foes through cross-canon CR.
About You: Hi, I'm Everett! My interests are kind of all over the place, but the main ones being rotated right now are film noir, horror, video games, TTRPGs, making HTML templates, and birding. Ummm. Take this Green-Winged Teal picture I took last week I guess
this is a two parter because i was brave and apped two characters
margaret houlihan | m*a*s*h
Character Age: Early 30s
Canon: M*A*S*H (TV)
Canonpoint: S11E15, “As Time Goes By” (right before series finale)
1 paragraph summary of character/canon:
M*A*S*H is a sitcom/drama about the people in a US mobile army surgical hospital (or M*A*S*H) unit during the Korean War. In the show, Major Margaret Houlihan is the chief nurse of the M*A*S*H 4077. Margaret grew up in the army, and as a result, has absorbed the idea of discipline. authority, and order being above all. Although she can sometimes come off as a major hardass, she has a softer side, too–she cares deeply about her patients and her cohorts at the M*A*S*H unit. She’s passionate about her beliefs, unwilling to take any sort of mistreatment from her fellow officers–and she certainly isn’t afraid to pull rank.
“Family” members: Her "husband" Vasiliy Ardankin (
Possible non-event hooks:
What are they up to in Sweetwater?: After getting her bearings, she'll probably try and sign up for a nursing job at the local hospital. Her main focus would be to identify allies that she can trust and who are stuck in Sweetwater, like her.
Most Desired CR: Other women her age who she can be friends with (PLEASE BE FRIENDS SHE IS SO. SO LONELY), people who can push against her ideas of the USA being a Great Force of Good in the world.
Undesired CR: N/A
Any threads you really want to play out? I'm gonna be real right now I'm no thoughts head empty on account of work nonsense but pleaseeeee hit me up if you want to riff off each other. I'm down to clown and I'm really looking forward to playing in this game!

mr. numbers | fargo (tv)
Character Age: Late 30s/Early 40s
Canon: Fargo (TV)
Canonpoint: "Buridan's Ass", S1E6
1 paragraph summary of character/canon:
In Fargo Season 1, a small-town insurance salesman, Lester Nygaard, and a wanderer, Lorne Malvo, become involved in several murders. Numbers and Wrench, two hitmen from the Fargo crime syndicate, are sent to investigate the death of a mob associate, only to find themselves also caught in the crossfire of an escalating situation between Lester, Malvo, and the local police. Wrench and Numbers work closely together, with Numbers also interpreting for Wrench, who is Deaf. Numbers can come off as inconspicuously pleasant when he wants to, putting on a veneer of niceties when he needs to, but when it comes time to do his work, the facade drops. To him, killing people isn’t anything noteworthy--it’s just another part of the job.
“Family” members: None! Which suits him just fine right now. (He'll get a nasty surprise later.)
Possible non-event hooks:
What are they up to in Sweetwater? Gathering as much information as possible so he can get THE FUCK OUTTA HERE. He doesn't like to play nicely with other people (even including Wrench sometimes) and it's going to be a challenge to get him to trust strangers, but hopefully in the spirit of understanding What The Fuck Is Going On will allow him to cooperate with others, albeit begrudgingly.
Most Desired CR: People that force him out of his shell, friends and enemies alike. I love negative and one-sided/uneven CR, please come talk to me about this!!!
Undesired CR: N/A

Wrench 🔧 | Fargo TV
Player Name: Andie
Pronouns: they/them
Contact(s):
Time Zone: CST (UTC−06:00)
Tagging Habits: I've got a regular 8:00 - 5:00 in state government that inhibits weekday tagging, apart from the occasional stolen paragraph here and there. Most of my tagging takes place on the weekday evenings (think 7:00 - 11:00 PM) or weekend afternoons (around 2:00 - 7:00 PM on average). I love boomeranging whenever possible, but I know that's a rare treat for most people in this hobby. I try to tag back at least every day or two unless there are extenuating circumstances. I'm always happy to take a thread to Plurk or Discord and hash out a mutual understanding of what happens if we can't play it out, but other than that I'm not often one to engage in a whole lot of heavy planning. I love to have a catalyzing event in mind and just see where things develop.
IC STUFF
Character Name: Wrench (Smith 🫢)
Character Age: ~38
Canon: Fargo TV
Canonpoint: S03E10: Somebody to Love
The Elevator Pitch:
Wrench is a former hitman and only surviving member of the Fargo crime syndicate, which operated across the upper Midwest from the 1980s through the early 2000s. As children, Wrench and his former partner Numbers were introduced to its boss, a man who would come to be known as Moses Tripoli. It is presumed that both boys grew up with some involvement in the syndicate, where they were trained to kill at the behest of its associates. While stalking Lorne Malvo — a man responsible for the death of one of the syndicate's members — Wrench was wounded by an officer, and his partner Numbers was murdered. Wrench managed to escape and has been on the run for the past decade, evading capture by the US Marshals.
It's worth the mention that Wrench is also Deaf and does not voice. I've got a fun little Communication FAQ should anyone want it, and I'm happy to answer any questions and brainstorm alternative methods of communication if so desired.
"Family" Members: Wrench Smith and his lovely spouse Teddy Smith, née Roberts. (So sorry
Non-Event Hooks:
Whew, well. In canon, Wrench has spent the last decade-plus evading capture by the US Marshals and acting as a sort of avenging angel. It's presumed that no living person knows his real name, nor has any connections to him. He's very unused to being in the public eye, and the fact that he suddenly has a wife and neighbors and people who are going to look him in the eye and call him by his name (however alias-y it might be) is Fucking Weird to him already. Learning how to behave in polite society is going to be his first hurdle because he is deeply unacculturated to living in a house.
He's also never had anything approaching a "real job," and his whole résumé is basically built around survival skills. If you need someone to teach you how to field dress a deer or build a lean-to or use an ice auger he's probably your guy, but if you're looking for someone to talk pop culture or current global events or just the best brand of breakfast cereal... the man is lost.
What are they up to in Sweetwater?
Currently fucking panicking on the inside but acting cool as ice on the outside, thanks so much for asking.
Most Desired CR:
I am literally taking all comers. I'm so excited to see how anything and everything turns out. There is nothing I don't want, except that I'd like to maybe do a little skipping past the requisite "why-are-we-here-and-how-do-we-leave" with as many characters as possible and get down to some Other Stuff.
Undesired CR:
What? Is? This?
Any threads you really want to play out?
I am here for it all and more than happy to throw Wrench into anyone's path to be a set of hands in whatever they've got going on. The man has a tendency to serve other people's aims more than his own, and it's entirely likely that he might find himself in the midst of something he did not even intend simply because he doesn't know any better.

beth greene | the walking dead
Player pronouns: Any binary pronoun is fine.
Contact(s):
Time Zone: GMT-6
Tagging habits/tagging speed: I try to get at least one tag in a thread each day, though I'm not as available on Mondays. If I'm falling behind, I try to reach out to people to talk about the best way to handle a thread - if we want to talk out the end, keep going with it a while, etc.
Favorite types of characters to write against: I don't have a particular type - I'm just looking for dynamic threads, dramatic tension, and CR.
Character Name: Beth Greene
Character Age: 18
Canon: The Walking Dead
Canonpoint: The end of episode 05x08, "Coda."
1 paragraph summary of character/canon: Beth Greene is an 18-year-old girl whose life went from "normal" to "zombie apocalypse" two years ago. Since the turn, as she calls it, she and her family - which has swelled from parents and siblings to include unrelated but beloved survivors better known as the cast of The Walking Dead - have struggled to survive, first in her family's farmhouse, and then in an abandoned prison. In that time, she's grown up fast: she's been the primary caretaker of an infant, lost both of her parents in violent conflicts, and nearly died herself on several occasions. Most recently, she's been an indentured servant at a hospital where brutality reigns. Beth's become harder since the beginning of the end, but she's also managed to hold onto a notion of faith and the need to do good, no matter the cost. She's brave, loving, and willing to kill - and she's coming in with enough mistrust that she just might feel she has to.
NOTA BENE: Beth's backstory includes violence of all kinds - physical, emotional, sexual - as well as mental health issues and suicidality. If there's something going on with her that you'd prefer not to write, please let me know.
“Family” members: Edward Nashton
Possible non-event hooks: Coming in, she's going to be paranoid and distrustful - she was just trapped in a place where she was constantly afraid for her safety, and she has no idea where she is. As a result, a lot of the immediate potential hooks are reactive to that general mood:
‣ Would you like someone to treat your character like an imminent threat?
‣ Or just completely freak out at them?
‣ Is your character potentially capable of breaking through and becoming a trustworthy ally? This is an option with gentle, funny, confident characters - canonically, it works out with a guy named Noah. So do sad middle-aged men, to be honest. Nota bene: I'd like to reserve the right to say "no, thank you" to this possibility as we talk about it here, or to say "hey, it's not going to go that direction in these first few days/weeks." Beth's in a vulnerable place, with some very situational triggers, so there's a touch of unpredictability that comes down to individual threads.
‣ If characters hit it off, do you want to try to steal a car and skip town? Getting the hell out of Dodge seems to Beth like one of the first steps to getting home.
Longer-term hooks with her include:
‣ She's never heard of zombies, so that's an inevitable conversation.
‣ She loves music and has a guitar here. They'll probably have to pretend they're playing Kingston Trio type stuff, but maybe there's room for a jam session - and maybe they can play some Tom Waits, as a little treat.
‣ Are you sad? Do you need a reminder of why life's worth living? Would it be helpful to have a vulnerable conversation about your feelings? When she's a little more certain of her surroundings, she can be helpful for facilitating that kind of character development without going full SOL about it. (Canonical vehicle for this is getting stone drunk and burning down a shack, so.)
‣ She doesn't have kids, but she took care of a baby for a long time and misses her a lot (and doesn't know if she's alive). Being able to talk about that with someone else who's away from their children has a lot of promise.
‣ If anyone here has medical experience, she has several stitches in her face that will eventually need to come out.
‣ Getting her to talk about Shit That's Happened in her own world, from losing family violently to experiencing sexual assault, would probably be good for her.
‣ Beth's a serial monogamist (I mean, she's 18, what do you expect) who has multiple partners over the course of canon. If building up to sneaking around for a relationship is something you're interested in, it's something we can work towards.
In general, I love writing conversations with her. She has a very particular worldview at this point, and the basic machinations of surviving the day are so different here that there's possibility in just about anything, from cooking with a gas stove to trying to hotwire a car.
What are they up to in Sweetwater? Trying to keep her head down and get the lay of the land before she does anything (too) stupid. Maybe doing something stupid anyhow.
Most Desired CR: Right now, I'm willing to try things out and see what hits!
Undesired CR: TBD.
Any threads you really want to play out? TBD as well. I want to jump in and see what hits.

rodion raskolnikov / crime and punishment
Player pronouns: they/them
Contact(s):
Time Zone: MST
Tagging habits/tagging speed: In theory, I’m a daily tagger — I like to get at least one tag done a day. In practice, I’ve been sick a lot recently, so my tags have dropped to a few times a week. I’m hoping to get back up to speed over the coming weeks.
Favorite types of characters to write against: Any and all! I love playing into Raskolnikov’s paranoia with characters that are naturally suspicious of him (because this guy is absurdly suspect), as well as any characters with a history in law enforcement/the judicial system, but I’m really not picky. Hit me up with absolutely anyone!
Character Name: Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov
Character Age: 23
Canon: Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky
Canonpoint: The end of Part IV, Chapter IV — he has met Sonya and his mother and sister have moved to Saint Petersburg, but he has not yet confessed his crime.
1 paragraph summary of character/canon: Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov is an antisocial, irritable, and incredibly proud impoverished former student living in Saint Petersburg during the early 1860s. After a month of internal debate over his character and nature, he decides to murder and rob a pawnbroker who he has previously had dealings with, both out of a need for money and so that he can prove to himself that he is an “extraordinary man”. While he is successful in the murder, the pawnbroker’s innocent sister finds him at the scene of the crime, and in a moment of panic he kills her as well. After becoming violently ill with stress and guilt, he meets a young prostitute named Sonya, whose drunkard father he’d been acquainted with. As the authorities begin to close in on him, Sonya encourages him to confess to the crime and repent for his wrongdoing as he wrestles with the meaning of guilt and his place in the world.
“Family” members: Wife — Agathe Marowski (
Possible non-event hooks:
— Has your character ever spent time in a bar/café/something similar? Raskolnikov has a habit of frequenting places like these, especially when he’s thinking through something. There’s a good chance he’ll run into someone during one of these thinking sessions. Maybe they can chat (or argue!) over a nice cup of coffee.
— Raskolnikov has a nervous disposition, was recently ill, and on top of all that is something of a hypochondriac. There’s a good chance he’ll be at the hospital at some point, or purchasing over-the-counter medicine to smooth his nerves.
— Want to talk about criminal psychology, law, or nihilism? This is your guy. There’s little that will draw him out of his shell, but he’ll have a conversation about his “extraordinary man” theory any day of the week, even if he hates every second of it.
What are they up to in Sweetwater? He’s going to be doing a lovely combination of moping around his house and being a general menace around the town.
Most Desired CR: I would love for him to Make a Friend! I would also love for him to make enemies! He’s much better at the latter than the former. I am 100% down for negative CR, and Raskolnikov is what can be described as a Huge Bitch. This guy does not win over a lot of people.
Undesired CR: I can’t think of anything off the top of my head.
Any threads you really want to play out? Please talk to him about crimes lmao, I love stressing him out

maureen robinson (park) / lost in space (2018)
Player name: abby
Player pronouns: she/her
Contact(s): PM,
Time Zone: PST
Tagging habits/tagging speed: Steady, mostly evenings (I work 9-5...when I'm not working OT); I try to clear my inbox once a day-ish. I'm too slow to really be considered a boomeranger at the best of times, but I'm happy to prioritize important threads! Heads up that I slow down during the last week or so of the month for real life job reasons.
Favorite types of characters to write against: I tend to play characters who are very Goal Oriented Individuals, and gravitate to writing against characters who will either enable or oppose them (or can be willingly/unwillingly dragged along as a co-conspirator). I usually play real jerks so am a Negative CR enthusiast by trade, though Maureen is ostensibly surface level nicer than most of the characters I play sooooo 🤞
IC INFO
Character Name: Maureen
RobinsonPark???Character Age: 48
Canon: Lost in Space (2018)
Canonpoint: "Danger, Will Robinson", S1E10; just got sucked into an alien rift in space. :(
1 paragraph summary of character/canon:
Maureen Robinson is a, quote unquote, "scary smart" aerospace engineer turned space explorer-slash-survivalist from the not so distant future. She and her family—three kids, one estranged-recently-reconciled husband—were part of a colony group bound for a distant planet when disaster struck, and their shuttle crash landed on an unknown planet. While Maureen didn't set out to get...lost in space..., she's wasn't exactly an unwilling adventurer either. Quick witted and ravenously curious about the universe at her fingertips, Maureen thrives under pressure and she thrills at a challenge. She loves reason, and lists, and math, and clever solutions to complicated problems that are trying very hard to kill you. It just so happens that she also expects everyone else to similarly flourish in the same circumstances; living up to those expectations is a sure fire way to earn her respect and affection. Crumpling under them is a great way to lose it.
“Family” members: Ricky Park (
Possible non-event hooks:
What are they up to in Sweetwater? Emotionally: Freaking out, but also it's fine! She's seen worse! She has everything under control! Otherwise: Trouble. One of Maureen's first goal is going to be collecting materials to build a radio transmitter (she'll be initially operating under the assumption that her family is also somewhere in the surrounding area and needs to be flagged down). If/when that gets kiboshed.......watch this space.
Misc Notes: Maureen is a genius math and science nerd, while I as a person am Definitely Not Those Things. I do my best at faking it, but if you catch me beefing the science or math (which she unfortunately talks about A LOT) then please don't hesitate to reach out to me oocly to tell me I'm being dumb so I can fix it lol.
Most Desired CR: Any, all! That said, Maureen loves a mystery and loves Doing Something About It, and will happily recruit and/or expect other people to be just as interested in that as she is. But if you're well sick of the How Did We Get Here and Why type threads, let me know and I can gear her in a different direction. 👍
Undesired CR: Whomst?
Any threads you really want to play out? No specific desires, but if at some point we don't start a Bridge Club or something as cover for secret neighbor meetings then what are we doing here.

Favorite types of characters to write against: All types! I love having a variety of CR! Positive interactions, silly hijinks, conflict and tension...give it all to me.
Character Name: Sokka
Character Age: 15
Canon: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Canonpoint: Post-S3E11, "The Day of the Black Sun Part 2: The Eclipse"
1 paragraph summary of character/canon: Avatar is a cartoon set in a universe where some people can manipulate one of the elements through "bending." The story is about the discovery of the one person who is capable of manipulating all four elements after he's been missing for 100 years, and his journey to end a war and return balance to the world. Sokka is fifteen-years-old and a non-bender, meaning he has no special abilities, though he learns throughout the series that he adds value to the team in other ways (planning, strategy/tactics, creativity, and more conventional fighting). He's from a tribal culture and considers himself a warrior. Throughout much of the series, he's largely the one who keeps the Avatar & friends moving forward on a schedule and focused on the mission at hand. He's an intelligent character, though he can be pretty goofy at times, but he grapples with his self-worth, guilt, and pessimism. Always the first one to throw himself into battle, Sokka would sacrifice for his family and friends in a heartbeat.
“Family” members: Sans is his assigned father!
Possible non-event hooks:
- On the tdm, Sokka did a little snooping around outside in his pajamas, listening to conversations and trying to scope out the neighborhood. Maybe your character saw him? Maybe he listened in on your character's conversation?
- Sokka wants to get back home as soon as possible, so if your character is similarly motivated, he may want to team up!
- Sokka is going to spend some time at the local library trying to learn as much as possible about this place. He's also going to copy down a map or two and do a terrible job at it because he's not great at art.
- Ask him about his boomerang! He's going to carry it everywhere.
- Sokka is going to be a little tight-lipped about the big things that are happening in his canon but I like the idea of another character being able to pick up on some cultural idiosyncrasies that betray some of his background or maybe indicate that he's been through some serious war situations. I don't have concrete ideas for this but I can def think of some specifics if your character is perceptive in that way!
What are they up to in Sweetwater? Going to school! Trying to figure out what's really going on and get home asap, trying to reconcile the way he lives life back in his world with the way he's expected to live life now, trying to get up to speed on things like vehicles that move without the power of bending. Most Desired CR: Any! All! Characters who can teach him a thing or two about life in the 1960's, characters who might have some culture clash with him, characters who like fishing and/or hunting and don't mind a teenager tagging along, characters who are annoyed by his sarcasm and/or sense of humor, characters who have experience in warfare that he can potentially learn from. Anyone who invents stuff, because Sokka does that in canon. Artists, if there are any around, as Sokka likes to make art but is terrible at it. Characters who are motivated to go home! Characters who are motivated to stay! Characters who want to learn how to throw a boomerang!

Sans | Undertale
Player pronouns: she/her
Contact(s):
Time Zone: EST but my schedule varies a lot and I'm often up at night
Tagging habits/tagging speed: I try to tag at a regular pace and boomerang when I can, though there are occasionally a few days, depending on my varying work schedule or other similar real life things (holidays, just lately), where I can't tag. If you're slower I don't mind, and we can always discuss OOCly anything that needs to be sorted out immediately!
Favorite types of characters to write against: I love seeing how all different types of characters interact, and the good thing about Sans is he can bounce off of pretty much anybody. I love getting involved in game metaplots, so I'd love to play off of others who are looking to do that too!
About you: I like reading and video games, especially plotty indie games. Fantasy, science fiction, and horror are my favorite genres in general. RP-wise, I'm a plot-focused player. I want to put a character in a storyline and see that storyline play to completion, getting my character involved with the plot and with everyone else involved in the plot along the way. Feel free to add me on plurk!
Character Name: Sans
Character Age: 30
Canon: Undertale
Canonpoint: failed genocide; the player loses to Sans and does not reload or reset
1 paragraph summary of character/canon: Undertale is a video game where a human falls into the Underground, a world of monsters, and has to get through it to escape. On top of that, saving, loading, and resetting are actual concepts, and Undertale being a video game is a very big part of its canon; because the human can never permanently die, it leads to questions of how to behave with that kind of power. It turns out the monsters are actually pretty chill people, and you can get through the entire game without killing anyone! But you can also go wildly out of your way to murder literally every monster in the game and get a very different experience, which is where I'm bringing Sans from: he's from the path where every monster is killed and he has to fight the human. Sans is a lazy skeleton who loves his brother, good times, bad food, and worse jokes. He's a sentry in at least three different stations, one of which is an illegal hot dog stand, and he plays at comic relief almost the entire time... Except in the genocide route, which is where Sans happens to be from. There, from the point the human kills Sans's brother onward, he stalks the human through the Underground and fights them as the final boss (in the Judgment Hall, fittingly), because he actually knew all along that the human had the ability to reload and reset, and he knows that if the human finishes murdering every monster, all the timelines will end forever. As a result, Sans's humor is much darker, he's much angrier, much lonelier, and much more depressed... But he's still that funny skeleton, and the funny skeleton is all he wants people to see.
“Family” members:
Son: Sokka
Possible non-event hooks:
-Sans will be a regular at whatever bar people tend to hang out at; if your character spends time there, they'll see him.
-Sans will be spending a lot of time at the library. You may catch him napping or, shockingly, actually reading books.
-Is your character a non-human who has been unceremoniously shoved into a human body? Sans is in the same situation! He's not going to tell anyone if he can help it, but he'll definitely want to know other people who are in that situation.
-Is your character going to get to know Papyrus? Then your character is going to meet Sans. They don't get a choice in this, sorry.
-Do you like stars and space? Are you involved in stars and/or space? Sans loves these things and this is his first time being able to see stars outside of books. Please talk about space with him.
-Sans never tells anybody anything. I know some characters really latch on to figuring out those types; Sans is here to hate every moment of your character doing this.
-A more long-term thing, because Sans won't want anyone to know this: Sans is a lapsed quantum phycisist familiar with timespace... Situations. This may come up depending on how things in Sweetwater develop. It will at least be obvious from the start that Sans loves science.
What are they up to in Sweetwater? Adjusting to being a human while also not trying to let anyone know he wasn't always a human. Trying to figure out what's going on in Sweetwater. Reading every potentially helpful book in the library without making it look like he's reading every potentially helpful book in the library. Hanging out with Papyrus and trying not to let on to Papyrus that Sans is from a different timeline where Papyrus died. Identifying other kidnap victims and trying to at least establish a general acquaintanceship to see what everyone else is like and who might be helpful to the "get out of here ASAP" plan that he has not yet formed. Being mildly horrified that this place has assigned him to be a parent and relieved Sokka is capable of taking care of himself and he is not expected to actually parent him. Not doing the dishes.
Most Desired CR: Sans acts as good comic relief, so others like that or contrasting straight men are always fun. Characters who also want to figure out what's going on and how to get out. Characters who very stubbornly want to figure out what's going on with other characters' lives; Sans will not like that, but I will. Character with complicated relationships with violence, to make Sans nervous and have to deal with that. Child characters--I love playing off of kids, and Sans does it well with his level of humor. But really hit me up with anybody, Sans is a people person skeleton.
Undesired CR: N/A
Any threads you really want to play out? I want to be involved in figuring out what's going on stuff; that stuff is great. Characters comparing notes on how to properly behave like an early-1960s American, also fun. Characters failing to do this and getting punished and having to deal with the consequences--I can imagine once it gets out what happens to people who don't conform that would be a whole gamewide situation for everyone to really think about. Stargazing threads! Attempting to celebrate unfamiliar holidays! Sans getting attached to other people against his will!

Character Name: Norton Folgate
Character Age: 30ish
Canon: Torchwood: Soho
Canonpoint: After The Black Knight
1 paragraph summary of character/canon: Torchwood Soho is an audio play spin-off of Torchwood, which itself was a spin-off of Doctor Who. Torchwood is an organization founded by Queen Victoria to protect the British Empire from alien threats. Norton Folgate is a Torchwood agent in the 1950s. He is also very gay. As the series progresses, it delves into the tension involved in Norton basically working for a government that would seek to throw him in jail for his sexuality. He's cynical, manipulative, and very ruthless, although he often presents himself as rather silly and harmless. A lot of his mannerisms come from his participation in 1950s London gay subculture. (Rather effeminate, use of Polari slang, a lot of things that later on got exaggerated into The Gay Stereotype.) Although he's careful to just toe the line to not get himself arrested, he's not remotely closeted, which results in social stigma that has made him rather suspicious and hardhearted.
House number and “family” members: Norton's currently enjoying a bachelor pad housing situation. Household of just him.
Possible non-event hooks:
- Need help with the manual choke on a car, or filling the ink cartridge in a fountain pen, or instruction on how not to look like a member of the Comintern? Norton is from 1954 so if he sees someone struggling with mid-century problems, he might lend a hand. Unless you look like a member of the Comintern, then he might do suspicious snooping instead.
- Interested in some exploration and tossing around theories how you got here? Norton is also interested in those things!
- Norton was rather recently trapped in a different Stepford Suburb that involved evil alien eels bodysnatching people, so he's probably going to try to assess if y'all are actual people or evil alien pod people.
What are they up to in Sweetwater?:
- Exploring the area, trying to familiarize himself with the town and the personalities therein.
- Eating most meals at the nearest cafe because he's incapable of cooking anything more complicated than toast and fried eggs.
Most Desired CR: I like variety! Friends, both nice friends and snarky friends. I love negative CR, too. Norton's probably going to flirt with at least one attractive man at some point despite that being unwise in 1960 conformity town. (It doesn't stop him in 1954 either.)Undesired CR: Nothing I can think of.

teddy roberts(-smith) | oc
Player pronouns: they/them
Contact(s):
Time Zone: CST
Tagging habits/tagging speed: Generally/under normal circumstances it's every few days in groups, but right now I'm adjusting to a new gig-work-as-fulltime-job schedule and I'm also dealing with some health issues, so I've been very slow. I'm really excited about RP right now though so hopefully that changes very soon! I have always been someone who tags in spurts; sometimes I can boomerang (esp if tag partners don't mind me focusing on a particular thread) and sometimes need to just set reasonable goals.
I do write LONG tags, which can make tagging take a little while. I'm trying to edit! But.
Favorite types of characters to write against: I...don't think I really have a type? Just good CR! That's been friends, antagonistic relationships, people who get each other a little TOO much, romantic interests. I do have a little bit of a bias toward snarky characters and/or rebel types? But with Teddy, she will need a counterbalance to her already BEING anti-authoritarian.
Character Name: Teddy Roberts (Smith, apparently)
Character Age: 26
Canon: MY BRAIN (she's an OC)
Canonpoint: Present Day, first couple weeks of December
1 paragraph summary of character/canon: (*clears throat*) Teddy is a queer student and musician from the mountains of Central Appalachia. She spent most of her childhood and early-mid teens longing to get out by any means necessary...and spent most of the time they were gone realizing how much they loved and missed it and, eventually, that they wanted to make their life about improving their home. Teds is passionately political, but they will always value compassion and helpfulness on an individual level over theory or the "greater good". Teddy hates expectation and hates stereotype even more, but in a lot of ways, she's the epitome of a mountain kid: hard working, pragmatic, proud of getting her hands dirty, and deeply loyal.
A few "first impression" notes, in order of noticability:
-Teddy is 5'1" (and can occasionally be mistaken for younger than her age)
-She has a Central Appalachian (border of KY/WV) accent that gets stronger when she's (drunk/stressed/angry) or very comfortable with someone; she's very careful with elocution around complete strangers or speaking publicly, but it mostly mellows to 'slightly confusing and vague geographically', she cannot accomplish reporter neutral.
- She has epilepsy, and her seizure dog will most likely be with her if she's walking.
“Family” members: "Wife" to Wrench (
Possible non-event hooks:
- Is your character also from the more mountainous South and might they recognize that accent? Always nice to bond over regional similarities.
- Do they need someone who's generally both helpful and pragmatic in an emergency? If they had had all their stuff, she would be the one with a multitool with everything and still open a beer bottle with her keys.
- Want to jam? Teddy only gets to have her guitar, but she plays a ton of instruments. She's going to be missing her bandmates from home AND her equipment for her solo stuff, so anyone who wants to play with her, teach her things from where they're from, or remind her that it's probably not a good idea to play things from post-1960 even if it would be funny -- all appreciated!
- DO YOU LIKE DOGS? :D (technically Scout is not supposed to be petted while she's working, but. If chances are low for a seizure she gets spoiled sometimes.)
- How do you feel about trying to figure out what the DEAL with this place is? (Depending on when this happens, at all, or more specifically in some way.)
- Relatedly: would you like to covertly discuss organizing some kind of...idk, new arrival neighborhood watch, only, for each other? Teddy is innately not a fan of being controlled, but she's also someone who wants to take care of those around her; I'd say she's neighborly, and at home she is: they're very communal-minded. Here, though...it probably won't extend to all the neighbors.
- Gender/sexuality feels, anybody? Or covert flirtation, tangentially (/possibly, less necessarily covert than usual, depending on how your gender is perceived). Local enby here to make you confused about what finding them attractive means about you.
- Probably later, after figuring out she a) can't leave b) this place is horrifying: anyone who's dealt with mental health issues? Teddy has a history of depression and anxiety, and that'll definitely spiral SOMETIME after she's exhausted by being We Can Do It! for a minute.
- At some point, the epileptic will have a seizure I'm sure; doctors and/or concerned onlookers welcome to help her and the dog.
What are they up to in Sweetwater?
Uh, that stuff! *points up* Probably mostly trying to solve the mystery: also, hopefully learning some sign language so she can talk to her new husband. Playing music, getting to drive a car again. Ssh.
Most Desired CR:
Anything! Definitely people on, let us say, the left of the political spectrum, since that particular element of her background is a fun one to toss in here, but I want everything! Friends, antagonists, people who think the name Teddy is stupid, whatever XD
Undesired CR: What with the who now? I don't know this thing you speak of.
Any threads you really want to play out?
Oh man. Um. Again, all of them? I have to go to bed but. I'll update this if I think of something SUPER "must-play".

Favorite types of characters to write against: Gimme all that angst, damaged goods, cranky old folks, but sometimes it's hilarious if he's just grunting and sulking at someone who's young and really upbeat/enthusiastic.
About you: I enjoy crafty things (crochet, painting, resin art, handsewing etc.) and I play a bit of guitar. I moved to America for work ~10 months ago and still feel like a tourist, but I do like some American things like country music and WWII propaganda posters. Sometimes I make icons over at
Character Name: James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes
Character Age: 106ish but who's counting?
Canon: Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)/The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (FatWS)
Canonpoint: End of FatWS
1 paragraph summary of character/canon: James Buchanan Barnes (also known as Bucky) from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Disney+ series the Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The canon is much like real life, except with a lot of fantastical things happening (alien invasions, gods and celestial beings, killer robots, timey wimey alternate timelines and universes, magical stuff, superheroes and villains etc.) Bucky was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1918 and enlisted for WWII as a young man. In the mid-1940s he was captured by the Nazi-resembling organisation Hydra, successfully experimented upon with a supersoldier serum as a prisoner of war, and survived a fatal fall where he lost his left arm. Presumed dead and left behind, he was fitted with a replacement bionic arm, brainwashed and reprogrammed as a blank slate murdery tool for Hydra, lifespan artificially prolonged using cryogenetic technology until his childhood friend rescued him. He's been trying to do the right thing but also having bouts of recovering/drifting/relapsing/struggling ever since then.
“Family” members: None yet! I elected to wait until next round since I was going home for Lunar New Year and might not be around as much as I'd like until March.
Possible non-event hooks: He is very obviously missing his left arm so he might struggle with a few day to day things that other characters are welcome to offer to help him with. He will be prickly and insist he doesn't need help with anything, grumble and glare a lot, but be quietly appreciative. He is also freshly depowered and will be discovering the magical wonders of drinking himself to oblivion.
What are they up to in Sweetwater? Bucky will be settling in quietly whilst observing everyone and trying to figure out who is part of the town and who randomly woke up here like him. I guess at some point he will have a job so he'll be half-assing that too. He doesn't want any trouble, but trouble seems to find him anyway... so he will definitely be trying to buy a few guns and some knives. Also where the hell is his arm? He'll be on the lookout for the metal limb thief.
Most Desired CR: In no particular order!
Undesired CR: Just to be clear, I am open to exploring these potential scenarios down the line, but not in the first few months. I would prefer for these things to happen organically, and just want to make sure we chat on plurk/PM beforehand so that everyone's on the same page:
1. any potential fallout from Bucky's former Nazi/Soviet affiliations. (I don't think he will be talking about it openly, so nothing should randomly come up at least!)
2. any 'extramarital' secret ~it's complicated~ things.
Any threads you really want to play out? Other than the above CR suggestions, nothing immediate comes to mind. There will be multiple breakdowns, some explosive and some quiet, but a lot of thread ideas are either domestic angsty things or longer term plans right now.

Papyrus | Undertale
Pronouns: they/them
Player Age: mid-30s
Player Timezone: EST (but off-shift job)
What is your usual tagging speed? Tagging patterns? I mostly tag for a bit around 1am and/or 1pm EST, especially on weekdays - weekends vary between unavailable and available all day. I try to reply to tags within 48 hours, and I very much enjoy tagging back and forth when schedules line up, but I'm happy to wrap things up with an ooc gist if tagging paces don't mesh.
Favorite types of characters to write against: It's so hard to pin down types, honestly, because it's more about whether we can find themes or tones to harmonize and contrast over. Jokesters can be fun, characters who are very serious to Papyrus's silly or who draw out his more serious side are fun, and I love when I can get him into cahoots with someone with a scheme that he wants to go along with. Characters who poke at the mysteries until his deflections become obvious are also great, especially if the player's cool with his avoidance (since some answers take so much headcanoning).
About you: I'm as much a tabletop rper as a dwrper, and I like to know what I can about the worldbuilding / settings / themes to better connect my character(s) to what's going on. I am very into timeloop games / branching paths games at the moment - In Stars And Time and Slay The Princess ate my brain the last couple weeks, and before that I've obviously been rping from Undertale for years. Papyrus has been my main character partly because I love the puns and banter as deflection from deeper emotional vulnerability, and the skelebros do that even in the face of terrible things going on - it's fun to play with how the jokey deflection means he's not taken seriously even by his castmates, and then to push at them until they start to break. (Start, but not completely!)
Character Name: Papyrus
Character Age: Low 20s, guesstimated
Canon: Undertale
Canonpoint: Ruler Papyrus ending, genocide run derailed by sparing Papyrus
1 paragraph summary of character/canon: Undertale is a cute-looking indie game that questions the lethal violence common in such games, by telling a story of a bunch of monsters trapped underground behind a magical seal, trying to free themselves by stealing the souls of humans who go in their caves (includes themes like murder and suicidal depression and divorce). Since the human we play can time travel to undo each death, and with enough patience can learn to avoid attacks and peacefully make it through the underground, to kill any monster is a choice. Especially with Papyrus, who won't even accidentally kill the human - he stops attacks at 1hp, or outright refuses to attack. He's one of the backbones of Undertale, a skeleton monster who speaks in the font of his name, who monologues dramatic threats, bickers and banters with his brother, and presents the player with a series of puzzles. And this "human-hunting fanatic" introduction is largely a persona, one he partly drops in favor of seeking his real goals - relevance, friendship, and encouraging people to be the best them they can be... like he's always encouraging himself to do. His role in the game is about underlining these themes of loneliness and friendship and the overall point it's making about lethal violence - he'll cheerfully spar, but not kill. I'm taking him from an ending where he convinced a murderous human to spare him, but not to stop killing overall - with all the other regional bosses killed, the surviving monsters elected him as the new ruler of the underground. As ruler, he's prioritized the morale issues with encouragements and food and entertainment, while his brother significantly assisted on the logistics and paperwork side of rulership, and the loneliness and stress of it have been a strain on Papyrus for a while. He won't know what to make of this new life, or the ways his brother is behaving strangely, but he'll do his best to work hard at doing well here.
“Family” members: None at this time! Not sure if he'll be throwing parties in the bachelor pad, but he'll be visiting and mentioning his actual brother Sans.
Possible non-event hooks:
- Driving School (On The Go), he's long dreamed of driving and now's his chance. Please dodge if he honks nearby.
- Learning about human history and culture, maybe reading up on things at the library, or just asking questions? It's like he's from under a rock or something. But a rock many years later, so he has oddly approximate knowledge of humans, period.
- Stress cooked a lot of (terrible) spaghetti again, trying to find someone to take some off his hands. Optionally, gelatin food experiments on top of it.
- Struggles with things like needing to shave now, needing to actually sleep, or the fine details of styling hair. Shopping for a different razor, or dozing off in public, or whatnot.
- Mourning the internet. And cell phones. And dimensional boxes. And the internet! /repeated to deflect from that other thing.
- Playing fetch with dogs in a park, but like, sometimes he's the one catching the stick in his mouth. Is that not normal? His neighbors did that too.
What are they up to in Sweetwater? Starting out, struggling with what to do with himself now that he's not feeling responsible for everyone's mental health?? I figure Papyrus will be trying to fit in to the local norms of behavior! Trying is the key word there. He's too himself to succeed at this any time soon, and he'll start leaking irritable sarcasm when his failures add up on him and the various promised consequences start happening. Trying to get the lay of the land re: who's in charge around here, what do people find commendable, and what's definitely not allowed is going to take a while, so he's not about to start digging up his yard to install puzzles or anything, yet. Also, doing Sans's dishes.
Most Desired CR: Again, hard to pin things down! Characters also very not from around here (be it the surface of Earth, being human, and/or this century) to go ??? about things with. People who get to know Sans, so he can complain and commiserate about his brother with them. Other characters who are also willing to try playing along with this stuff - or characters who are so unwilling that they'll argue with whoever does, both are good.
Undesired CR: You know that TTRPG cliche about the hooded loner brooding in the corner of the tavern, whose player won't engage with the setting or the other characters because he's just too busy being too cool for the game? If the character takes themself too seriously to interact, then the player's gotta do some legwork to get them into threads anyway. I don't think we've got any of that guy here, but that guy.
Any threads you really want to play out? It depends! I don't know enough of the players/characters here to know what we'll be mutually enthused for. If any of those event hooks speak to you, then let's see where we can take them!

Player pronouns: ahe/they ig

Time Zone: AEST/GMT+10
Tagging habits/tagging speed: Fast and erratic, likely to boomerang with no warning
Favorite types of characters to write against: Ones that push against mine and force him to either act or negotiate, who can light a fire under his ass and get those gears working.
About you: I'm an Aussie receptionist for a radiology company, and thus will actually be my second game for Arthur: my mainstay is TLV but I also adore this sort of horror and I look forward to inflicting Arthur on everyone for it!
Character Name: Arthur Lester
Character Age: 34
Canon: Malevolent (Podcast)
Canonpoint: Episode 12: The End
1 paragraph summary of character/canon: Arthur Lester is a recently-blinded detective from Arkham, Massachusetts, 1934, trying to solve the mystery of how he became entangled with an entity trapped in a magical book - who he literally just learned is a fragment of the King In Yellow, and implicitly responsible for all of the torture he's faced in the last twelve episodes.
“Family” members: Helly R., now Helly Lester and he is going to have some feelings about that.
Possible non-event hooks: Blind detective (doesn't know how to use a cane), predates the setting by 30 years, Lovecraftian protagonist, aggressively independent, his house has a piano, Who The Fuck Is John. Arthur is absolutely going to be kicking up a fuss, but unlike his beloved wife (gag) he knows the value of staying lowkey until you can strike, and for the first while his major focus is going to be info-gathering, about the other new arrivals and what they can learn about this place as much and as soon as possible.
What are they up to in Sweetwater? He will be struggling with his job, mostly
whatever that ends up being, lmaoand trying to navigate the world without the only person he can trust in the back of his mind. He doesn't trust any of you sonsabitches yet, especially not to describe a room to him. Most Desired CR: Literally everyone lets gooooooo, but also he is going to be incredibly protective of kids
Undesired CR: None as of yet, but if anyone wants to app a canonmate for him in future I'd love a heads up!

Edward Nashton | The Batman
Player pronouns: She/her
Contact(s):
Time Zone: EST
Tagging habits/tagging speed: Aiming to tag every thread at least once per day, typically more in the evening/night. I don't typically set out to boomerang but sometimes the stars align.
Favorite types of characters to write against: I'm into anything being presented with enthusiasm tbh, with a special fondness for hardened but compassionate types and hopeless weirdos. I don't know who Edward will mesh well with in practice, both because he's a new character for me and also because he really doesn't socialize much in canon, but that's just more incentive to throw him at anything.
Character Name: Edward Nashton
Character Age: 38
Canon: The Batman (2022)
Canonpoint: End of the film, before he gets that very sweet Joker pep talk.
1 paragraph summary of character/canon: Edward Nashton is a man who grew from an abysmally sad childhood into an abysmally sad adulthood, isolated and neglected all the while. He accidentally stumbles onto a metric fuck ton of corruption (this is Gotham, after all) and, after drawing heavy inspiration from a rookie Batman, decides this could only be effectively addressed via fear and violence. Alongside riddles, a coping mechanism developed early in life used now to send coded, guided messages to the Batman. He murders several public officials and destroys their reputations in the process, amassing followers similarly jaded at the state of the city. Targets (save one) killed and city-wide conspiracy exposed, Edward turns himself in and blows up the city's sea wall. Everything's coming up roses until Batman shows up and informs Edward that not only are they not super righteous best friends, but that Edward is a freak who will die alone. Big bummer! He proceeds to subdue Edward's followers and spoil the very last leg of the plan while he's helpless to do anything but listen to the news coverage and have himself a tantrum. He's a very smart man with a lot of very big emotions who has kind of mistaken murder for self empowerment and justice.
“Family” members: Beth Greene, spouse
Possible non-event hooks:
— He's a criminal back home and I'd love to drip feed that into things (knowing sus shit, possible initial actions befitting someone who thinks this is some bizarre punitive/therapeutic thing set up for him, him tweaking and omitting background details in these early stages, etc)
— Bonafide Smartman. While he's lacking the head start and anonymity that made him so hyper-effective in canon, he's still very, very sharp. Excellent logical thinker, lifelong excellence in math and science, explicitly the type of person to learn to do things himself even when it isn't strictly necessary. Knowing things and flexing that he knows things are his primary cope. He'll be drawn to anything where he can contribute these skills, or spinning his own weird projects if that fails.
— He's from a city and has never experienced an environment like this in his life. He's learned the exact opposite of suburban sociability and will likely do some scrambling to make himself passable in a way other people are more than free to notice.
— He can be (semi)easily persuaded to take special interest in characters, if he's presented with an interesting angle. Once his attention has been caught, he's basically incapable of not wanting to extract as much data as possible.
— Strong political opinions! Not examined with too fine a comb in-film but I feel very confident inferring he's not much of a fan of America, its military, or most authority to speak of, for reasons both legitimate and relating to his cynicism. Can probably be brought to the point of confrontation/eventual violence in the long term, but we'll play that by ear.
— Would LOVE to get him back into journaling so someone can eventually steal his weird diary
What are they up to in Sweetwater?
— So he went from horrifically unhappy and meek to more commanding and proactive in canon, but then this blew up in his face in a spectacularly. I think as a result of this he's going to temporarily regress just a touch, and while he's getting his feet under him and establishing himself in these new surroundings he'll be much easier to brush off, rile up (not that this will necessarily show), or generally walk all over. He'll have himself psyched back up in short order.
— Observing people! In canon much is made of his ability to appear inconspicuous, but given the different environment + less dense population in general I'm equally happy with people noticing and calling him on this as I am with him going undetected. This could range from just eyeing them from across a shop to following them places, depending on how interested he gets + what floats people's boats.
— Frequenting the library (checkouts are primarily things on history, astronomy, autobiographies of contemporary public figures, things in this vein), and likely more than one restaurant and cafe.
— Night Walks/Drives, as his insomnia kicks back in something fierce.
— I'm sure at some point he's going to want to invent a cipher or secret code for everybody, seeds for that idea will probably come on fast. Additionally trying to devise tests to see if the locals are actual organic people, actors, military personnel and so on. He did frequent conspiracy-flavored online spaces, theories could get weird.
Most Desired CR: People who Want Out, people who will have baggage about the family units, Science and Math types (though I am emphatically not this so bear with me on that front), he'd do well with some firsthand examples of basic human decency, he's going to miss his online fan club :( won't you be his hype man? And anyone with significant background or baggage overlap, fucking please.
Undesired CR: None yet! I'd prefer no one get so mad they kill him one week in, but that's about it.
Any threads you really want to play out? Anything at all, I'm eager to get him out there and feeling out alliances. Ideally I'd like to keep the initial confusion threads to a tidy few.
Notes: I'll have a permissions/opt out up soon but just a heads up that while I can write around most of these things, the character does come with animal death, suicide / suicidal ideation, messy implied mental health stuff, self harm, child abuse / neglect, and mass shooting / gun violence tws. Obviously a great deal of this is unlikely to come up right out of the gate, but I'd rather get out ahead of it.

Time Zone: EST
Tagging habits/tagging speed: Most active on the weekends and weekday evenings, which is when I like to sit down and boomerang. Usually at least a few tags during the weekdays.
Favorite types of characters to write against: Historical ones! Funnyguys tm! Military types are always loved too, as are decidedly ordinary and unremarkable people who have to rise to the occasion.
About you: LMAOOO not me coming in late to the OOC intro I, me, put up... anyway hello!! It is I, Yasmine. I'm a scientist, horse owner, and history enthusiast. I'm also the dubiously fit to serve captain of this ship though by no means should anyone feel obligated to tag as I know this guy is. Hmm. A very specific sort of individual.
Character Name: Vasiliy Yegorovich Ardankin
Character Age: 33
Canon: Original
Canonpoint: 2018, 1 year after immigration to the US
1 paragraph summary of character/canon: Vasiliy’s a Soviet ex-interrogator, fervent communist, and revenant–born in 1910, he served in Nikolai Yezhov’s NKVD from 1936-1940 as a ‘good cop’ interrogator responsible for emotional manipulation in the distinctly Soviet split style interrogation system: instead of beating confessions out of prisoners, Vasiliy approached them casually and with kindness, expressing sympathy and emphasizing that it was in their best interest (and their family’s) for them to sign the falsified confessions that would ultimately get them jailed or shot outright, justifying it to himself with the belief they’d be tortured until that happened anyway. When Yezhov fell from Stalin’s favor and was jailed and executed, the NKVD was purged just as it had been during Vasiliy’s time, and he was arrested, interrogated, and executed as an enemy of the state. But his story didn’t end there–for reasons that aren’t clear to him, Vasiliy woke up lying on his back in the snow in the middle of nowhere in 2015, unharmed, carrying the documents of a man by the same name born in 1985. He’s spent the past three years unlearning Stalinism and coming to grips with the sheer magnitude of what he did, racked with overwhelming guilt and deep paranoia over being discovered and executed for what he did a second time. He trained as an EMT and immigrated to the US on a work visa two years after his return to the world of the living, and has spent the past year working with Chicago municipal EMS in an unconscious effort to balance some of the cosmic harm he did while processing how he was summarily disposed of and living in fear of rediscovery, still a true believer in communism but now living in an environment in which traits that helped him survive in a police state are seen as deeply unusual.
“Family” members: trapped in the get along shirt with Margaret Houlihan
Possible non-event hooks:
— he's an EMT, and will be working at the hospital. Medical emergency? He's your guy!
— He's Russian. Very Russian. Vasiliy's patterns of speech are old timey and he knows autotranslate will capture that in English, so he deliberately speaks his second language (English) in which he is not totally fluent. Because of this, characters will hear his grammatical and pronunciation stumbles, not just a very strong accent. So down to have him interact with and relate to other Slavic characters, even if he's Fucking Weird tm around them because he's so nervous about being found out.
— He's genuinely altruistic and communal-minded. Need help shoveling snow or raking leaves? Learning to ice skate? He'll offer to help without question.
What are they up to in Sweetwater? Being paranoid as fuck. This is his absolute nightmare realm and he's very aware that if they find out he literally worked for Soviet intelligence services (albeit domestic) he knows he'll be tried and executed for treason. Catch him putting his police state experience to good use and being a model immigrant who's so happy to assimilate into his new community! And possibly warning characters who 'run their mouths' because they aren't used to having to watch every word they say.
Most Desired CR: Friends! Fellow countrymen! Neighbors!
Undesired CR: Nothing at this time!
Any threads you really want to play out? No specific ideas yet/varies by character!

Ricky "Jupe" Park | Nope
Player name: Carolyn
Player pronouns: she/her
Contact(s):
Time Zone: US Central
Tagging habits/tagging speed: HA HA HA well right now nonexistent (see: writing plotting comments at 6 am), but after the holidays I should be back to tagging around once a day during the week and more frequently on weekends—I try to prioritize plot-heavy or emotionally fraught threads and like to set aside chunks of time to move those threads along. Also totally open to hashing things out ooc if we run out of time!
Favorite types of characters to write against: I loooooooooooove tension, characters with strong beliefs, and characters being passionately wrong about things (I especially love arguments where both characters are wrong in some way). Culture clashes and differences in perspective are also my jam. Also characters who are Just Weird (particularly with Jupe, since if anyone else is watching he'll feel compelled to pretend they're being normal).
Character Name: Ricky “Jupe” Park
Character Age: 35 (now that I've read the script)
Canon: Nope
Canonpoint: After the final Star Lasso Experience 😃
1 paragraph summary of character/canon:
“Family” members: His “wife,” Maureen. Live (?) love (?) laugh (that one he can manage)
Possible non-event hooks:
- He died! Whoops! (And also got a bunch of other people killed in the process.) He's extremely unlikely to bring this up—he won't even want to think about it—but he'll be on the lookout for anyone who might have met the same fate as him, or who might also be dead (i.e. showing up with obvious injuries, being in shock, uh, talking about being dead also works...).
- This is ridiculous, but Jupe has been some degree of famous since he was 11 and will be weirded out that absolutely nobody seems to know who he is. (And further weirded out when they haven't heard of most of the crappy shows and movies he's been in.) Eventually the implications of this will sink in and he may try to start keeping facets of his life to himself (WHAT A NOVEL CONCEPT), but prior to that he's liable to just rattle off shit about himself like it's his job, enjoy.
- He'll be doing his best to blend in so lmao please mistake him for an NPC (though being Korean-American may be something of a tell...). Relatedly, if your char is sticking out like a sore thumb he will try to get them to KNOCK IT OFF.
- Y'all are at the library? He will be WATCHING TV and trying to glean clues from what's on the air.
What are they up to in Sweetwater? Outwardly: treating this like a sitcom! He'll be taking his cues from the locals and filling in the blanks with shit he's picked up from TV. (Feel free to assume your char's seen/endured him making sitcom-dad-level corny jokes, or witnessed him “yes, and”ing setting-related weirdness.) He'll assume—because his brain is broken—there's an audience for this somewhere, so he'll be trying not to make any waves. (And honestly, treating it like a sitcom will help him cope.)
On the sly: Climbing on the roof at least once, trying to track down a telescope, surreptitiously keeping track of lost pet posters, searching his house for hidden rooms (he has one at home!), looking for evidence of a crew/film equipment...you know...
He's not super analytical, but he'll probably low-key develop a theory that the nuclear panic is a cover for some kind of alien presence and will be very interested in checking out people's bomb shelters and finding a way to monitor the sky. I mean, cultivating his budding interest in amateur astronomy.
Most Desired CR: Jupe is putting on an act like...all the time (and sometimes isn't even aware of it), so I'd love any kind of CR that rubs up against that—whether it's dragging him into ~subversive~ activities, gentle prodding to figure out what's going on with him, or just thinking he's kind of off. He's pretty personable and tries to be easy to get along with—obviously I don't mind if he's successful! But he also tends to be passive/reactive, so ideal CR would shake him out of that in some way (and I'm extremely fine with him being bossed around). His sense of self is [file not found], so I'd love to play him off both chars who are very secure in who they are and people struggling with similar issues!
Undesired CR: Nothing at the moment!
Any threads you really want to play out? RL came at me hard during the TDM, so I'd love to play out initial reactions (happy to hit up old top-levels or write my own starters if people are game!). Anyone who meets Jupe right away will probably get a very different impression of him than someone encountering him later.

If you're game, I'd be jazzed to hit up your TDM or vice versa for a Game Canonical meet and greet. I'm stuck in the year end vortex, so maybe by the time you're free I'll also be.
(sidenote: I'm so excited to get to write with you it's been 100 years.)

Agathe Marowski
Player pronouns: she/her
Contact(s):
Time Zone: PST
Tagging habits/tagging speed: Mostly a Day Tagger since my job allows for it, I try to go through all my inboxes at least once a day and will often do more than that, especially if it's juicy.
I have a one-year-old, which means my evenings and weekends are spoken for, so if you tag me on a Friday and don't hear from me until Monday, I promise it isn't personal. I am probably just drowning in boogers and cracker crumbs
Favorite types of characters to write against: Scoundrels and Shitheads
About you: I'm a digital artist creating cosmetics for a game company, which I like very much. In the summertime I perform as a bard at my local Renaissance Faire, which I admit is incredibly dorky and will make my son hate me when he's older, but I really like to dress up and sing stuff so it is what it is.
I am much friendlier than my character and am happy to chat/make friends, so please feel free to DM me or add on plurk or whatever! I have only ever been in Fade Rift on DWRP (tried a few others, didn't take), so we have probably never met. Unless you're Abby hi Abby
Character Name: Agathe
MarowskiRaskonikov, née SchneiderCharacter Age: 40s
Canon: OC
1 paragraph summary of character/canon: A dour German woman with a sharp tongue and a quick hand, whether what's needed is the covering of a clerical mistake or something rather less admissable. Agathe gives the overall impression of a terrifying schoolmarm stereotype come to life: straight-backed, eagle-eyed, and inscrutable, she maintains an immaculate profile and is rarely in the mood for nonsense.
If one can only figure out what her good side actually looks like, they can attempt to get onto it, but it's entirely possible to go for years not knowing whether or not they've succeeded.
“Family” members: Rodion Raskolnikov, husband (cradle-robbed)
Possible non-event hooks: Investigating the Why of this place, mostly. She's the type to observe for a while more than jump right in, but if she sees someone who appears similarly out of place or anxious that's a good enough In for conversation.
What are they up to in Sweetwater? Checking her home for traps, potentially trying to kill or maim her new husband, being frowny in public, arousing suspicion of the locals by Existing
Most Desired CR: I love mess. I love all-the-way-negative CR, prickly pseudo-negative CR, grudgingly-positive CR, and the rare and elusive Genuine Love (romantic, familial, whatever) CR, but not expecting that one anytime in the near future. I am up for basically everything, as long as there is clear communication and IC/OOC separation (with negative especially).
Undesired CR: None really?
Any threads you really want to play out? I'm going with the flow babey

If she tries to maim him he will probably just lie there and take it tbh, he’s a mess
