I wasn't 100% (and I think that's on me) on how much was up to us and how much was "aaand now you're dragged off to the basement". Knowing that it is a) primarily discretion and b) what the various levels of neighbor tolerance for that stuff is, is good. thank you!
Follow up re: the telephone, out of curiosity, would there be anything that would show up if someone took apart the phone, or is it a tap on the whole signal exchange? (This is not something Teddy would necessarily know how to do, but she'd know about taps themselves from being a political history nerd, so I'm curious.)
Actually -- secondary question since 1960 was right in the era of cutovers, with apologies for these two not being event-based (but it seems easier than you having to answer questions in three different places) -- do phones in Sweetwater go through a switchboard operator, or are they direct dial?
