character info Character Name: Sans Character Age: 30 Character Role: Father (single, not ready to mingle) Canon: Undertale Canonpoint: failed genocide; the player loses to Sans and does not reload or reset 1 paragraph summary of character/canon: Undertale is a video game where a human falls into the Underground, a world of monsters, and has to get through it to escape. On top of that, saving, loading, and resetting are actual concepts, and Undertale being a video game is a very big part of its canon; because the human can never permanently die, it leads to questions of how to behave with that kind of power. It turns out the monsters are actually pretty chill people, and you can get through the entire game without killing anyone! But you can also go wildly out of your way to murder literally every monster in the game and get a very different experience, which is where I'm bringing Sans from: he's from the path where every monster is killed and he has to fight the human. Sans is a lazy skeleton who loves his brother, good times, bad food, and worse jokes. He's a sentry in at least three different stations, one of which is an illegal hot dog stand, and he plays at comic relief almost the entire time... Except in the genocide route, which is where Sans happens to be from. There, from the point the human kills Sans's brother onward, he stalks the human through the Underground and fights them as the final boss (in the Judgment Hall, fittingly), because he actually knew all along that the human had the ability to reload and reset, and he knows that if the human finishes murdering every monster, all the timelines will end forever. As a result, Sans's humor is much darker, he's much angrier, much lonelier, and much more depressed... But he's still that funny skeleton, and the funny skeleton is all he wants people to see. “Family” members: Sokka (assigned son) (and also Papyrus is his Actual Brother)
event plans A Thought is Haunting Me: Sans will be hanging around the New Year's party very intent on watching a new year happen. I'm going to give him the first memory, but Sans isn't going to want to talk about it in public. If you need someone to shush your character, he can do that! He'll be happy to (well, happy's a strong word, but he'll want to) talk about these memories in private and compare notes.
In The Valley of the Dolls We Sleep: Sans is getting stuck in the department store. He's not a (physical, or ideally any type of) fighter, so he's going to be dodging and hiding. He'll be trying to find/hanging out with Sokka, who is capable of fighting, but he's still going to be advising not getting in any more fights than necessary and trying to approach things from a more secretive angle. If you need someone to try and come up with a plan for getting water by maybe accessing the plumbing pipes rather than getting in a tiny room with some mannequins, Sans is your guy. But you're going to have to actually do it, probably.
Drill It In Like J. Paul Getty: Sans's secretive nature keeps him safe here, but it doesn't keep his brother Papyrus safe, and so Sans will be on edge and very aware of this and actively trying to find others it happened to. Subtly, of course. He's up for casually leading drugged people into a house before he asks them about what happened and how.
...And I Am Watching You Shovel Snow: Sans likes snow! He's not used to actually getting cold, that's weird, but he'll get over it. Expect to see him around the skating rink, maybe making a snow lump or two. Sans will absolutely not be shoveling his driveway he doesn't even drive the car.
Wildcard: If you have something else in mind, run it by me!
