Ohhhhh my god same, this man is about to be living his literal worst nightmare!!! The enemy is IN the house she is LITERALLY a devout anticommunist IN AN ARMY UNOFFICIALLY AT WAR WITH HIS COUNTRY'S and he uhhh wasn't exactly a civilian!! And believes she is fighting with the Wrong Side in the war she's in! Plus like....this is someone who doesn't let things go...and he VERY MUCH would like people not to linger on his ~~incriminating~~ peculiarities!!

There's so many angles!! Also super interested to see how his idea of the ideal Soviet Wife that he's been conditioned to expect is going to clash with her own personality - he's not full "women belong in the kitchen" but he definitely still has unconscious biases and while he's a lot more progressive than the townies and believes that both parties in a marriage SHOULD work, he'll also be very??? if she expects him to like, contribute to cooking. While he FULLY and painfully grasps that this is contrived, I think just a living situation in which the other party is female would be enough to bring out some of that cultural conditioning.

Also, the fact that they're both medical personnel and will be working at the same hospital....and he will be handing patients off to her/others given that she's a surgical nurse so she'll have to read his patient reports in handwriting that is NOT the greatest - possible point of contention?? Also just having to coordinate w someone you don't like while at work in addition to home....uh oh sisters!!

ALTHOUGH ironically i do think they're going to share the same stance re: behaving - this man does Not want trouble and despite getting off on the REALLY WRONG FOOT Vasiliy will feel compelled to brief her on Living In A Police State 101 even if she says she knows!! Because if she goes down his experiences with the NKVD have him conditioned to believe he'll go down with her, and he's very NOT TODAY, JOE MCCARTHY about the whole situation.

Also I would love to continue our tdm thread!! I was having so much fun with it and the holidays got in the way and I still haven't fully unpacked/decompressed but I go on holiday (like a For Myself holiday) starting tomorrow!!

Truly their burgeoning relationship is a feast and I for one cannot WAIT to tear into it. Two people who fucking loathe each other with their whole heart suddenly forced to get along because if they DON'T cooperate they'll be worse off. I feel like Margaret coming fresh off the Donald divorce nonsense will have her be pretty opinionated on Vasiliy's own expectations LMFAO.

at least they can count on each other to be professional at the end of the day and have their goals aligned. EVEN IF MARGARET HATES IT!!!!!!!!!

also HELL YES!!! also don't worry about it, i was also super bogged down with the holidays and work. but soon fun times will be within grasp!!
